There are two biggest takeaways for me from this course. The first point is about the research part. The transition period for this research was long and I changed the topic several times. At first, I searched the internet and treeholes to try to find out all sorts of secrets, but I got very little information, so I tried to narrow down the topic, and just as I was getting frustrated, life gave me inspiration, and with my teacher's advice, I changed the topic from 'secrets' to 'birth control'. The IUD". During my research on the IUD, I realised that I had been obsessed with its current state and had missed the context, so I expanded the scope of my research to explore the rights of women through childbirth and women's rights, eventually arriving at the goal of my topic.
The second point is the experimental part of my project. The experiment part was one of the few attempts I made to learn the methods I learned from my teammates last semester. In the experiment, it gave me new experiences. I experimented through a combination of birth control rings and baby carriers, and then used the destruction of dyes and copper wire, trying to express the oppression and bondage of women in Chinese society and culture. However, I felt that this look I experimented with was too complex and a little difficult for me to expand upon.
For the next semester, I have decided to continue with my visual experiments, possibly simplifying the shapes etc. Regarding the final output, I want to do an installation with a combination of graphics at the same time.
