NAME

Ayat Alshari

INFORMATION

16 years old. male, high school student, Indian

DESCRIBE

Ayat Alsharif suflers from severe colour blindness and thinks that he is not smart enough to tell anyone, including his parents, that he annot tell colours. In colour dass, Ayat Alsharif found that his friends could easily dip two or three paints into the paper and make very beaitiful colours. but when he copied colours that looked similar "to him"; his teacher was surprised every time and asked him how he always got the colours wrong. fear, suspicion and trepidation, Alsharif realised that this had become a vicious circle, a not-so-classical one, so he tried to escape and skipped every colour class. The students thought that Ayat Alsharif

went to the field, to the library. In fact Ayat Alsharif was just alone, stting on the steps, propped up with his head in a daze, olour blindness decidedly giving him a sense of minority alienation.

PERSONAL REASON

People with colour vision disorders experience a sense of ambiguity when faced with colour distinctions, a lack of clarity in the definition of colour, their own lack of understanding by others and an avoidance mentality. They become frustrated when they are unable to understand tasks involving colour. The concept of colour vision disorder is not widely understood, leaving educators without a general understanding and enlightenment of students with colour vision disorder.
